Sri Lanka’s specialty coffee sector received a major boost with The Beans Coffee Factory signing a landmark MoU with Smart Coffee UK during the Curated Coffee Showcase in Colombo. The agreement opens direct access to European markets, offering new opportunities for local processors and smallholder farmers supplying 100% Sri Lankan Arabica.
The event was attended by Her Royal Highness Queen Bakembisa Kuyalu Mafuta, whose presence highlighted growing global interest in the island’s coffee revival. The Beans Coffee Factory showcased regional flavour profiles, processing innovations, and farmer-driven stories, positioning itself as a key force behind the sector’s resurgence.
With rising global demand for traceable and ethically produced coffee, the partnership strengthens Sri Lanka’s potential to emerge as a recognised specialty origin, while maintaining a commitment to ensuring the best local coffee remains available to Sri Lankan consumers.
