Round Table Sri Lanka (RTSL) has demonstrated how volunteer-driven action and rapid logistics can transform disaster response following Cyclone Ditwah’s floods in the Western Province.
While floodwaters rendered roads impassable, RTSL adapted quickly, delivering food parcels, medicine, and dry rations to affected families through both ground and air operations. More than 10,000 food parcels and 1,000 ration packs were distributed by early December, alongside assistance in over 100 rescue operations.
A defining feature of the response has been the use of airlifts to reach isolated areas. In partnership with Yahaguna Padanama, with logistical backing from Expolanka and support from the Air Force, RTSL ensured aid reached communities completely cut off by floods.
Backed by partner organisations including Ladies Circle Sri Lanka and the Round Table International family, RTSL continues fundraising and relief work, positioning volunteer leadership and collaboration at the heart of Sri Lanka’s flood recovery
