The Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents (CASA) has urged Sri Lanka to accelerate digital transformation across the maritime and logistics sector to remain competitive in global shipping networks.
CASA said port efficiency now depends on seamless digital integration among shipping lines, terminals, Customs, and other border agencies, rather than infrastructure alone. Fragmented systems, it warned, increase delays and transaction costs.
The association welcomed the introduction of ASYHUB by Sri Lanka Customs but stressed that its success depends on full integration with terminal and industry platforms. CASA also called for faster implementation of the Maritime and National Single Window initiatives, cautioning that partial rollouts could add complexity.
Highlighting recent weather-related disruptions, CASA said digitally integrated systems improve resilience and recovery. It urged policymakers to adopt coordinated, outcome-driven digital reforms to strengthen Sri Lanka’s maritime competitiveness.
