The Government has officially launched online registration for Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) services, marking a major step in the digitalisation of labour-related public services. The new system, introduced in late December 2025, allows employers and private-sector employees to register, submit contribution details, and access EPF and ETF services through a single online platform.
Implemented by the Department of Labour in collaboration with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the initiative aims to address long-standing complaints over delays, missing records, and manual errors. Employees can now view their EPF balances, check contribution histories, and receive updates via online portals or SMS using their National Identity Card details.
Speaking at the launch, Labour Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando said the reform would improve transparency and efficiency, while Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe noted it would reduce the high volume of EPF-related complaints. The EPF manages over Rs. 4.3 trillion in assets, serving nearly three million private-sector workers nationwide.
