EDB, UK Promote DCTS Export Opportunities

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board, in partnership with the British High Commission Colombo, conducted a hybrid awareness session on 11 February 2026 to help exporters capitalize on the United Kingdom’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS).

Nearly 200 exporters and stakeholders participated physically and via Zoom. EDB Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe highlighted the UK’s importance as a key export destination and stressed the benefits of simplified procedures and tariff preferences under DCTS.

The main presentation by Ellie Parker from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office detailed recent improvements, eligibility criteria, and practical steps for claiming tariff concessions.

An interactive Q&A clarified compliance requirements and rules of origin. EDB Acting Director General E. L. K. Dissanayake reaffirmed continued institutional support to strengthen Sri Lanka’s export competitiveness and better utilize emerging trade opportunities in the UK market.
