Sri Lanka’s export earnings rose by 5.6% year-on-year to $17.25 billion in 2025, according to data from Sri Lanka Customs and the Export Development Board (EDB).
Merchandise exports increased by over 6% to $13.58 billion, driven by strong performances in apparel, coconut-based products, food and beverages, and electronics. Coconut exports recorded the highest growth, exceeding 40%, while apparel earnings rose above $4.9 billion.
Services exports grew more modestly to $3.67 billion, with ICT/BPM and logistics remaining key contributors. The US remained Sri Lanka’s largest export destination, followed by India and the EU.
However, exports of rubber, spices, ornamental fish, and certain electronics segments declined during the year. The Government has set an export target of $20 billion for 2026, focusing on expanding both merchandise and services exports.
